Re: Alexander William L. Co-pilot B17 42-3219
Froggy,
LWG was T/Sgt Everett A. Quimby. Names hard to read on MACR indeed, but when you compare the names with the ABMC listing for 333rd BS/94th BG you can get several matches. The annotations on footnote.com get get you in the right direction as well. Groet, Leendert |

Re: Alexander William L. Co-pilot B17 42-3219
People thanks for this information. I am very happy with it.
Hopefully someone can ever tell me more about this plane and maybe there is a photo of the crew or plane. It is unfortunate that nobody survived this crash, but that was a good illusion I am very happy and go see if I can adopt the names, so a few times a year their names are remembered. Froggy |

Hello FrankieS,
Sorry I thought I said. "Seen going down near Heligoland two engines smoking". MACR may have more detailed info. All the best Alex |

Re: Alexander William L. Co-pilot B17 42-3219
Good morning FrankieS !
There is one German report (A.V. 1579/45) at July 17th, 1943, which mentions an enemy case at "Ording", which is by my understanding the town of St.Peter-Ording. This town is located at the due west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, about 100 km west of Kiel. The a/c may have crashed there, since Heligoland is due west of St. Pter-Oerding. It's also possible, that one crew-member was washed ashore the beach in the area and was identified. Best regards ! Horst Weber |
