Another photo of "red 2", JV 44 ?
Hello gents. At last I get Eagle Edition's The Focke Wulf Fw 190 Dora Vol. 2. A wonderful and superb book!
Photos of "red 2", JV 44 in the book remind me an attached photo which was auctioned at ebay in Jan. 2004 (thanks so much Ed!). Sorry, I didn't bid and have not a high resolution one. Is it the same a/c as in the book? |

Re: Another photo of "red 2", JV 44 ?
Hi,
Apologies for the late reply. I'm a bit suprised there hasn't been any response to your post by more learned colleagues. I had a look at my own copy of Dora Pt 2 and I think you are correct. The photo appears to show a D-11 with a straight upper cowl and enlarged intake. In addition the Shape and colour of the '2' appear to match the photo in Dora Pt 2. If this assumption is correct, this photo is significant as it shows the other side of Red 2 compared to published photos. Hopefully someone can post a high -res photo to supply more detail. Cheers Michael |

Re: Another photo of "red 2", JV 44 ?
Hi Michael, thank you so much for your comment. I also hope somebody will post or publish a high-res photo.
By the way, some people asked me I had a high–res photo and sent it them. But I have already mentioned above, have no high-res photo. And sorry, I didn’t record the ebay address. The photo was auctioned one of an album photo, and the seller showed a lot of pictures in one image. Thus it was no wonder many people could not notice the photo because that was so small!! Best regards. JunY |

I am still amazed at the fact that the heavy hitters on this forum haven't waded in on this discussion and if anything, at least acknowledge such.
What gives? Stephen |

Re: Another photo of "red 2", JV 44 ?
Hi Steve,
Yes, that Dora, "ro.2" is a D-11 and was found at Bad Aibling. Extant images of it show it in the middle of the large assembly of aircraft that in turn made it difficult to get good shots of it. There are more photos of it out there - stay tuned. In the meantime, I suggest that those interested check out the LEMB: http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...ic=1013&st=120 Cheers, David Last edited by David E. Brown; 28th January 2010 at 01:41. |

Re: Another photo of "red 2", JV 44 ?
Hi David,
Be very careful not to pull a "Sheflin." It's "Bad Aibling," not Abling. I made that error years ago in AIRFOIL and I am still paying for it. Steve Sheflin |
