After The Battle Magazine - No 147
For those interested in the Battle of Britain period the latest edition of ATB carries a six page detailed article on Plt Off J Benzie of 242 Squadron, missing on 7 September 1940. (The main theme of this edition of the mag is The Battle For Cherbourg, however)
The thrust of the article deals with the work done (ultimately unsucessfully) to identify a pilot buried as an unknown airman ("Known Unto God") at Brookwood Military Cemetery. All the indications are that this is Jack Benzie. Unfortunately this is one case that seems unlikely to see closure for the family. Last edited by Andy Saunders; 23rd March 2010 at 15:40. |

An excellent article it is, too!
...and so is the rest of the magazine, by the way! David |

Thanks David!
It is a shame that this one could not be resolved. A shame too that others with an "agenda" have tried to present things rather differently in relation to such matters. |
