'Cologne gap'?
Dear all,
Today, one of my German research contacts, a respected airwar historian, asked me about the term 'Cologne gap' -he told me that it was a term used by RAF Bomber Command for a Flak-free zone between Köln/Cologne and Koblenz. This is the first time anyone has mentioned this to me, is this corect? Cheers, Theo |

Theo,
No.3 Group refer to this in late 1944 / early 1945 while undertaking GH Daylight raids. Regards Steve

Re: 'Cologne gap'?
Theo,
Also described in the online books Nuremberg Raid: 30-31 March 1944 (Martin Middlebrook); Men Of Air: The Doomed Youth of Bomber Command (Kevin Wilson) and more. It was a 20 mile gap between Bonn and Koblenz. Regards, Leendert |

Re: 'Cologne gap'?
Would this be the same as what some German researchers call the 'Bomber Strasse' or 'Herman Göring highway'? https://www.ezpress.eu/ez_image.php?id=39755&f=0
