KG 200 Loss

Looking for any information on KG200 loss 21.03.1945.

Apparently somewhere in North East Italy near Triest ? Due to friendly fire.

This is all information on record card of Feldwebel Fritz Panke .

The man at WASt showed me record card but the writing was too faded to get any more details unfortunately.

Dear All

Beale/D'Amico says the name is Domack and not Damack.

Who is right Norbert or Nick?

Cheers

Re: KG 200 Loss

I haven't yet,why I posted :-)

The writing on Card was almost ilegible .location only readble part was Italin and cause was best guess "friendly fire", but may be incorrect.

This part of file in 1945 was more difficult to read than 1941 portion which was about his KG30 crash 9.1 .1941 at Etten-Leur which I was more interested in. I had been previously informed he had survived war and had possible address north of Berlin . I was in Berlin this week and went to WASt to check couple of other casuallties and asked to confirm his status. Was disappointed to find that he was MIA

I was really impressed by way man at WASt there helped me,I had to wait 30 mins to see him. I had summary of known facts which helped him get required info on 3 cases within 30 mins . Seems that as all deaths had ocurred in late March (21), April, and May3 there was not lot availble as to circumstances. I have previously found out that Luftwaffe deaths were registered in towns of last residence or in location where they died if in hospital.
I had problems getting the two I was asking for directly to local town halls but local records arkive got me one of them. The other came with help of local police.! My wife suggested I try them and 10 days later got death certificate by email. The were convinced I was crazy initially but when given the reason for wanting details were more than helpful. In another town the took me in their car to the correct office wth note to explain what i wanted.
With the German privacy laws it can be challenge especially if one's knowledge of german is rudimentary.

The death certificates have Name
Date and place of Birth
If married,wife' name and residnce
Mother: birth place: last addressccupation
Father : " " "
Last place of residence and occupation
Place and time of death
Cause of Death
Who Registered death relatve or dept responsible for investigating war deaths.
Military Rank and Unit

So lots of useful info if you can get them. There is some variation in actual format. More modern script and old german script (in smaller town)

Well I got that spelling from the WASt. namentliche Verlustmeldung.

This aircraft was probably shot down into the Adriatic about three miles off Pola (now Pula) by a Mosquito of 256 Squadron.
