I/D Hurricane pilot
Hi guys
I'm seeking the identity and unit of a Hurricane pilot who baled off North African coast on 17 October 1943 and was rescued by the destroyer HMS Fury south of Rhodes. Cheers Brian |

Re: I/D Hurricane pilot
Hello Brian,
Have you looked at the HMS Fury action off Greece for the 16th and 17th ? http://www.naval-history.net/xGM-Chr...D-23F-Fury.htm And http://www.naval-history.net/xDKWD-Levant1943d.htm I have searched the AB serial number books and found nil. Having said that there are several that there is no info on . Where did the info about the downed a/c being a Hurricane come from ? FAA aircraft were in action on the 16th but I do not think they were Hurricane. What RAF/RAAF/SAAF Hurricane Squadrons would have been in action over the area on the 16th to say 18th ? All the best Alex Last edited by Alex Smart; 4th February 2012 at 01:50. |
