Re: Sgt Wrampling, 151 Sqn
Agreed but £3.50 is a lot to pay for an initial. I will ask the AHB tomorrow-you never know!

Re: Sgt Wrampling, 151 Sqn
Hello,
As you will already be aware there is a 'B.J. Wrampling' on the CWGC site who served with 101 sqn, there is also an entry in the 'Flight' archives dated July 23rd 1942 under the 'Previously reported missing now presumed killed in action' section for an 'E.J. Wrampling', but as there is no corresponding CWGC entry I assume that this is a typing error, and that they both refer to the same individual. There is a 101 sqn Association website currently under construction which includes daily ORB entries, including the transfer in of a significant number of Wop/AGs in the May and June of 1941 as the squadron converted from Blenheims to Wellingtons. These entries specify where the aircrew have transferred from, but unfortunately the entries for July 1941 onwards have yet to be transcribed. It is quite possible that the 151 sqn Sgt Wrampling transferred to 101 sqn in late 1941, particularly bearing in mind the planned conversion of 151 sqn from Hurricanes/Defiants to the Mosquito in April 1942. Perhaps you might find it productive to contact the 101 sqn association member who is transcribing the ORB to get access to the data not yet posted on the website. Refer to www.156squadron.com and the link to 101 sqn's site. Regards, Ian |

Re: Sgt Wrampling, 151 Sqn
AHB confirm that Sgt Brian Wrampling of 101 Sqn was second pilot but FS Douglas Wrampling was an AG taken POW with 35 Sqn 8-9 Jun 42 so he seems a better choice?

Re: Sgt Wrampling, 151 Sqn
Chris:
Was this the "Sgt Wrampling" engaged in the action (with P/O Bodien) with the 3/KG.53 He 111 A1 + LL that crash-landed at Sharrington, Norfolk on 4 May 1941 ? BC |

Re: Sgt Wrampling, 151 Sqn
BC: Yes and I have Bodien still being a Sgt at the time of the combat
