Verbandskennzeichen "B9" - which unit?

Gentlemen,
is it known to which unit this Vbkz has belonged? I have searched anywhere but could only find a hint to Liegnitz airfield. Any idea?

Cheers,
Christian

Re: Verbandskennzeichen "B9" - which unit?

Hi Christian

B9 is listed as unknown in "Luftwaffe Codes, Markings and Units" [Schiffer, 1995] but it does have two types listed with this code:

B9+LK - Bf110
B9+GH - Ju W.34

Re: Verbandskennzeichen "B9" - which unit?

Thanks Pete,
I just stumbled across the photos of B9+GH in the Japo books (Bf 109s in Deutsch Brod + Lw over Czech Territory 1945) and wanted to know if someone has got a clue on this one. Bert Hartmanns site has noted "Liegnitz: Bf 110, W 34" behind this unit code. Guess the Bf 110 is B9+LK.
Is it known where this Bf 110 is documented?

Re: Verbandskennzeichen "B9" - which unit?

Hallo,
in JaPo book is many post war photos of W 34hi B9+GH in scrapyard together with Bf 109 of JG 52 and Jagdstaffel 5 der ROA (Vlasov´s army). The autor means W 34 is liaison plane for ROA.
But I think the code B9+ is from some previous unit, for example Flugzeugverbindungsgschw.

Re: Verbandskennzeichen "B9" - which unit?

Hi guys

Just received this answer from Barry:

"Hi Peter I still only have the two "B9" codes, B9+LK for the Bf 110 and B9+GH for the W.34 hi. The only thing I have added to my working copy is the unit ROA? - I don't remember what ROA stands for at the moment and unfortunately I don't have any notation on where I got the two codes from. I know it must be somewhere in the thousands of pages of documentation, photos, etc. I have but it would take a very long time to go through all of it to find them. Sorry I can't help you more.

Best regards,
Barry"

Oh well... back to square one...
