The following is what is listed in Norman L.R. Franks RAF Fighter Command Losses of the Second World War volume 1 (revised) page 116 for the above Hurricane in remarks. "Night sortie. Shot down in combat with He 111 and crashed near Sanderstead, Surrey. Aged 29. Czech."

Gents, thx for reply!

I am trying to check a claim of Lt.Georg Boxhammer, who claimed "english nightfighter" on the way back over Ostkuste England on night 10-11 may.

P/O František Běhal, Czech, No 1 Squadron, Hurricane Mk.IIA, Z2921, was shot down at 00.50 in Selsdon Park, Sanderstead. Shortly before being shot down claimed one He 111. It was believed that he was shot down by Oblt. Boxhammer but it seems to be more correct that he was in fact victim of friendly fire and he was shot down by F/O Edward D. Crew, DFC and R/O Sgt. Norman Guthrie (No 604 Squadron, Beaufighter Mk.IF, R2098). P/O Běhal is burried on St.Luke Graveyard, Whiteleaf, Surreyshire, Grave No. H.29.1329.

František Běhal served during Battle fo France in GC III/3. He is credited with two victories in cooperation. Do 215 (in fact Do 17P) on May 19 1940 and He 111 on May 20 1940. He was awarded Czechoslovak War Cross 1939-1945.

THX Michal. Good info.

P/O Běhal was shot down over Sussex, and it is a bit far from Eastern shore of England.

Any other losses or damaged a/c on that night?
