Ju 188 W.Nr. 190329

Hello,

Does anybody have information about the history of Ju 188 A-3 W.Nr. 190329? The aircraft was captured intact at the end of the war.

Regards,

Roger

Thank you for your fishing question. It however confirms it may have survived prior service, since July 1944, if you have clear enough photo to show a correct full W.Nr., but location is not important, "intact" survivours were found on several airports, so if you do not show your hand you can not expect others to show theirs..

I can only add that this aircraft was one of 62 similar Ju 188A-3 torpedo-aircraft produced under licence by Siebel Flugzeugwerke Halle in the summer and autumn of 1944. Most of these aircraft ended up in the III./K.G.26. From 7. July 1944 to 31. July 1944 this unit received 26 Ju 188A-3 aircraft. At the time of the capitulation in May 1945, this unit was located at Vaernes and Gardermoen airifelds in Norway and a total of 32 Ju 188A-3 aircraft ended up in the hands of RAF Aircraft Disarmament Squadron in this country. 190329 was NOT among them and had probably been flown sout-east to assist in the Kurland evacuation.

STKz is given as Ju 188 A-3 W.Nr. 190329 "KQ+GB" by stammkennzeichen.de.

Nothing else known on my side, alas...

Thank you very much for this information. Indeed, it was not found at the airfields in Norway, but at Lübeck Blankensee where a number of aircraft used for the Kurland evacuation landed on the last day of the war.

Hi Tony, thank you for the list. That was very helpful as it allowed me to identify the location of some other photos of Ju 188, Ju 88 and He 111 that I have in my collection. Regards, Roger

Re: Ju 188 W.Nr. 190329

I disagree on this - I need not comment further. Its already solved by "anybody" for whatever purpose there was for solve it. The answer(s) are far from correct re context howthis was or plan incorrect.

No points awarded for try.
