Captured Avenger, Details please ?
Hello,
Some time ago I saw a photo of a USN Avenger that was captured by the Japanese. Its side number was "81". Any further info and crew names please. Thanks Alex |

Re: Captured Avenger, Details please ?
Alex,
Although I found no direct references to it on FAA websites, it is mentioned that a RN TBM-1C Avenger was captured in the Neth. East Indies somewhere in 1944. The RN type must have been called Avenger Mk. III? When googling I saw that the Arawasi air magazine had an article in its Sept-Dec 2007 issue about a captured Avenger. See also: http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/avi...air-22581.html on befriended forum. Regards, Leendert |
