The Big Show

Looking through my old copy of The Big Show I have never been able to see that the picture labelled Walter Novotny is in fact him. Is it actually Max Ostermann who I have as MIA on 9-Aug-1942, are there any more details of his loss with JG54,

Oberleutnant Max-Hellmuth Ostermann

Hello Brian

According to Prien he was shot down and killed in Bf 109 G-2 "Black 1" (W.Nr. 10 438) one kilometer west of Amossowo. According to Bergström he was the victim of S/Lt Arkadiy Sukov (16 victories) of 41 IAP, VVS. I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Leo

Re: The Big Show

Hello Leo,

Thanks very much for your answer, I have a loss list for JG54, but the entry concerning Ostermann is unreadable so you have filled a gap for me. Thanks as well for the name of the victorious VVS pilot,

Regards
