Can anyone identify this photo?

I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me where the following photo was taken. My grandfather is sitting on the right had side next to the exhaust.
I assume it's taken at the end of the war but it's nowhere I recognise in Kent.
Thanks Nick

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

Some good clues there: 'Nortax' on the right, and the 'Football Echo' building behind.

Cardiff, Southampton, Sunderland and Liverpool have/had a Football Echo, and Norwich today has a Nortax (although they may not have been around in those days!).

Any ideas?

Northampton.

A low back XVI could be SL54* or SL64* perhaps

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

It looks similar to some photos I have seen of RAF bombers doing "Wings for Victory Week". They would roll an aircraft into a main location and have Aircrew on duty to talk to the public. My Dad did a couple of these in 1943.
