Need help identifing an aircraft 1

Trying to ID the aircraft in the attached foto. It's twin engine, water cooled, a fighter (has a gunsight for the pilot), guns must be under the pilot or in the wings (nose too short for guns), probably being used by the Luftwaffe (has German radio frequency selector in right console. French?

Must be a Si 104, but it can't be armed?

I'd put my bet on Soviet Yak-4.

Skawinski,

You're correct, the Yak 4 matches perfectly to the foto. I've been busy searching westward and forgot about the allies to the east.

Thank you,

von Lutz

Re: Need help identifing an aircraft 1

My pleasure

Do you know a story behind this photo? Where or when was it taken?

I've never heard about Yak-4 used by Germans, on the other hand I've never been interesed in eastern front.

Re: Need help identifing an aircraft 1

Michal,

The fotos was in a group of Luftwaffe aircraft fotos I bought many years ago. There were no markings on it or any of the others. Every once in a while I pull it out to try and ID the aircraft.
