Ju87 IV/LG1 crashed on 17.05.1940 in Belgium

Hi all,

I recently discovered in the Brussels Air Museum data base an unknow crash for me in my country. From 6 years I'm studying my zone for my book and never heard something about that. Then, do you have some info about the crew, reason of the crash and exact place of the crash of :

Ju87B Stuka L1+W from IV/LG1 12 staffel
crashed near Enghien ( Belgium ) on 17/05/1940
- Oblt WENDELIN Hartman, pilot ( Lommel cimetery Block 44 Grab 479 )
- Fwbl FLERSCH Alfred ( not found in Lommel )

Thanks in advance.

Christophe

12.(St)/LG1 Junkers Ju87B-1. Shot down by Hurricanes of No.17 Squadron south-west of Brussels during sortie to attack Ninove. Crashed and burned out near Tollembeek, 6 km north of Enghien, 5.15 p.m. Possibly that claimed by P/O Manger. FF Oberlt Hartmann Wendelin (Staffelkapitän) and BF Fw Alfred Fleisch both killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

Be cautious with the BAMS losses database!
