Ghost fighter in Somme

Hello gentlemen,

On October 18th, 1943 at 3:35 pm, a German fighter collides the ground in the South of Amiens. Fw190 or Bf109 ? Nothing for the JG2, nothing for the JG26. Has anybody an answer for this plane and his pilot ?

Regards

Hi.

I have a Bf 109 of 8./J.G.2 damaged near Amiens.

Regards,

Re: Ghost fighter in Somme

Thanks Andreas,
It is not this 8./JG2 Bf109 G-6 (27170) motor failed, landing 10%.
I look that shoot down by the F/O Jacques Andrieux of 91 Sqdn. In the book "Une poignée d' As" this pilot evokes a pousuite more than a real fight. The German plane collided has full speed. Maybe a JG3 or a SKG10 present in the region...

Re: Ghost fighter in Somme

Hi guys

Just a thought - friendly fire? Any RAF/US fighter loss to match?

Cheers
Brian

Re: Ghost fighter in Somme

Hi.

My guesses would then be:

- Recon unit - any with single engined types in the area at the time?
- Training unit
- Location wrong
- Serious error in aircraft recognition - not a fighter?

Multiple losses for JG 3 on the date, seems to be in another area.

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Ghost fighter in Somme

Good evening and thank you for your research. I think my last solution is to Bourdon at the military cemetery. Browse Names (22215) and find the dead of 18/10/1943 ... I will return you submit !
But today too much snow !!!
Regards
