Can anyone help me please?

My Great Uncle 745940, Flt/Sgt Michael O'Donal Fuller served with 35Sqn at Gravely, their HP Halifax II was lost over the target of Dusseldorf on 25/05/1943. the whole crew was lost.
I would like to make a model of the aircraft he was in at the time to honour him. The Designated number of the Halifax II was W7825, I need your help to find out what the Sqn codes where on this particular aircraft if possible.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you!!

Re: Can anyone help me please?

Dear Nige,

You might like to get a couple of Halifax Bomber books for reference:

Halifax Special by Bruce Robertson by Ian Allan Ltd, 1990
ISBN 0 7110 1920 7.

This book has another TL-P in the book on Page 11 which is W7676 which shows a straight demarcation between the upper green/ brown and the matt black lower sides (rather than the wavy line scheme). This aircraft was in the same batch as W7825 so perhaps the style was used throughout the production run. In fact this same straight line between the upper and lower colours also shows on W7776 NF-L of 138 Sqn and on W7710 / LQ-R of 405 Sqn and W7773 of 138 Sqn to name a few!

Incidentally W7776 was converted to a Halifax Mk II Series II (Special) without a front turret but I think W7825 still had hers fitted and had the early style 'triangular' tail fins rather than square ones.

Also it was common for aircraft to have an A & B scheme where the pattern of green / brown was different on aircraft with odd serial numbers than even ones- so check this too.

Someone on here must have details for you.

Another Halifax book is The Handley Page Halifax by KA Merrick, by Aston Publications Ltd, 1990 ISBN 0 946627 60 8
