JG 27 Ofähnr. Herbert Reiner shot down 5 Dec 1944
Ofähnr. Herbert Reiner (born 28 Feb.1925) of I./JG 27 was shot down near Hervest (Dorsten) on 5 Dec.1944 and was found with his Bf 109 in Okt. 1989 and buried in his hometown Bernhausen/Württemberg near Stuttgart. Does anyone has info from where he started (Rheine ?) What type of Bf 109 ? and Werk Nummer of his 109 ? By the way in the List of Missing Pilots of Erik Mombeeck or Mombeek he mentions Feustel as missing: “28/03/45 Fw. Karl Feustel 5.JG 27 Bf 109 G Combat” Fw. Karl Feustel (Born Halle – East Germany) wasn’t missing. He was shot down in a wood near the small river Berkel at Stockum near Coesfeld (NRW) on 28 March 1945 during a dogfight with Spitfires. He was buried at the Lambertifriedhof at Coesfeld and his Bf 109 was excavated in 1947. Peter Monasso www.crashmuseum.nl |
