Me 262 battery - again

Dear All,

A few weeks back I requested photos and dimensions of the battery used in the Me 262. The battery sat behind the pilot's seat. Matthias was kind enough to direct me to a thread on Bert Hartmann's website where a fellow named Lutz had posted a side view photo of the battery. I sent a PM to Mr. Lutz requesting his help, but, alas, no response was forthcoming. Matthias tried to contact him for me directly in German but, again, no response.

The information is needed by the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin for the restoration of their Me 262. At this point, I have Lutz single photo and some isometric drawing views from the cockpit Ersatzteil-Liste, although these are not all that detailed.

So, again, I come to the membership to see if anyone can provide further assistance.

Regards,
Richard

Richard,

What exactly is it that you need? measurements? Or are you trying to make a full-scale replica of the battery?

Please be more specific...

mike

Re: Me 262 battery - again

Dear Mike,

If Karl could have it, he'd likely want an actual battery or a replica of same. I sincerely doubt such is available, so any information that would allow him to make a representation of the battery would be, I believe, his next choice. This means multiple photos and dimensions of the battery.

Regards,
Richard

Re: Me 262 battery - again

I own an original top bakelite cover, so I can give you the exact dimensions of the battery...but not the actual height of the battery, as the cover only will give me 2 of the 3 measurements needed. But I can give you an approximation.

Dear Mike,

The bakelite cover would be helpful - photos and dimensions. Many thanks.

Regards,
Richard
