Photos/info on Fw Ernst Biegert of 2./JG26 in 1940

Hello,

This recent eBay photo is reputed to show the 2./JG26 Bf109E-1 of Fw.Ernst Biegert, taken just after his first victory over Holland on May 10, 1940. Does anyone have any photos of the rest of his a/c, especially including the plane code? As some of you know, specific information on individual a/c flown by members of this staffel during the WC is rare, and this might be a candidate for an a/c color profile for the EOE book series if we can document the rest of the markings.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_5660wt_882

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

There were other pictures of the complete a/c in this ebay-set (see at the "oudjat-collections"). The code number of this a/c was "4" like on the backside of the picture written (see the thread about this a/c).

Best regards

Rasmussen,

According to the back of this photo, " Meine 4 macht den ersten Abschuss über Rotterdam, einen .... ( illegible ). Fw. Biegert und ... (?) Mai 1940, B'hardt " This would translate as: " My 4 gets the first claim over Rotterdam, an ... Fw. Biegert and .... (?) May 1940, B'hardt"

I believe that this caption was written by one of the ground maintenance crew for the a/c, which is probably the "Red 4" shown in other photos in this series.

According to Jochen Prien's JFV #3, Biegert scored the first I./JG26 victory of the WC on May 10, 1940, a Koolhoven FK 58 SE of Rotterdam. It was also his first victory, so this photo apparently matches that incident. He scored a second victory the next day, and then was killed on 28.05.40 when he was shot down in air combat with a Spitfire NW of Calais in an E-1. In one of his books, Pierre Watteeuw ID's his plane that day as "Red 13." the source of which info is unknown to me.

So, I think that we have this one solved.

Regards,

The (illegible) word is "Kohlhoven", B'hardt is Bönninghardt.

Rasmussen,

Thanks for your filling in the blanks. Only after I wrote our EOE translation did I realize that you'd translated this in the photo sequence posting. Your help here is greatly appreciated. Do you understand that the person on the other side of the fuselage in the photo is supposed to be Fw. Biegert? Can you read the name of the 2nd person?

Regards,

I like the "ouidjat-collection" words: Funny....
See 29/04 for the whole batch.
I didn't realise that there was more than one picture of that very plane, are you sure of that?
I didn't realise the #26, 27 and 28 had more than one picture in the same link.
But I'm not sure of that "4" assumption since other pictures of that JG26 batch have a number too on back; seems better a picture numeration than a code number for me.

Tschüss, Franck.

Not # 26, 27 or 28 but # 21! And not the number back on the picture but the number "4" on the a/c.

OK OK, Keep cool,

Yes there is a Yellow(?) 4 on picture #21; but how do you make the link between this picture and the caption of picture #28? Just because he wrote " Meine 4 ..." and because the seller is the same? I can accept that but say it directly.
Today I'm not in a good moon to make that speculation.
Guys are the same on both pictures?

Cheers, Franck.

There were no operational Koolhoven FK-58's during May 10th! I wonder what type he did claim? Probably a D.XXI?
