Identification needed

This part of an RAF or Luftwaffe-airplane of the Second World War was recently found at the beach of Scheveningen, The Netherlands. It's now in the collection of the Atlanticwall Museum Scheveningen Foundation.

1. Can someone identify what this part this ?
2. And from wich type RAF or Luftwaffe-airplane is this part ?

See the photo at:

Thanks
Ronald

Prefix "8" = a/c fuselage component.

"217" a/c typ, in this case Dornier Do 217 (the numbers were unique to an individual a/c typ, assigned by RLM)

The following numbers indicates the part number/ identity.

"3115.4" indicates the used material, here it is aviation alloy/ aluminum.

The logo is manufacturer VLW = Vereinigte Leichtmetall Werke.

As to what this is, i don't know either.

Re: Identification needed

Is his body ever found, is he buried somewhere or still missing ?

Between the end of January 1944 and begin February 1944 a body of a Leutnant Flieger washed to the shore at Scheveningen but there was no name linked with this body so it was titled as "unknown".
