AAF pay

I've looked without much success for a comprehensive list of AAF pay by rank preferably from PFC to colonel, with additions for flight pay and overseas pay. The most I've found was a short accounting of tech sergeant and captain which, IIRC, amounted to about $200 and $350 respectively (presumably c. 1944.) Any internet or published sources would be helpful. Thanks to all.

Re: AAF pay

Gunther,

Perhaps this link is helpful: http://www.91stbombgroup.com/91st_info/raggedinfo.html

Scroll down to near the end and you'll have a 1944 USAAF list.

There also was the Servicemen's Dependents Allowance Act 1942 that dealt with the families of the men.

Regards,

Leendert

Re: AAF pay

That certainly helps Leendert, thank you.
If the pay scale seems on the cheap side, remember that to adjust for inflation we need to multiply X12 or more!

John Beaman is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: AAF pay

Wasn't it the British who said that Americans (mostly AAF types) were "overpaid, oversexed and over here" ?

John: In answer to your question:
YOUBETCHA!
BTW, for 2010 values of the wartime pay, multiply X 12.
