Ln-Kp (Mot) KG53

I recently saw offered for sale a Soldbuch to a Fliegerschutze assigned to Ln-Kp (Mot) Kampfgeschwader 53.

This is the first time I have seen this designation, can anyone explain exactly what this unit is?

Any help whatsoever will be very well received indeed.

Regards Richard.

Re: Ln-Kp (Mot) KG53

According to my understanding:
Luftnachrichten-Kompanie = Communication Platoon. That part of the Geschwader, which takes care of all communication duties (radio, telephone etc.), possibly also some intelligence and/or surveillance activities.
Maybe somebody has a better and more convincing explanation.

Matti

Matti

That was my initial gut feeling also however, this man was a qualified Fliegerschutze, holding the Fliegerschutzenschein. Would a trained aircrew member be placed on a ground duties position?

Regards Richard.

So with the help of Matti:

Luftnachrichten-Kompanie = Communication Platoon. That part of the Geschwader, which takes care of all communication duties (radio, telephone etc.), possibly also some intelligence and/or surveillance activities.

Does anyone have anything to add or expand upon for this unit designation?

Regards Richard.
