AAF Crewman Evaded from Germany !

Awhile back , someone was trying to find any AAF Crewman shot
down in Germany that Evaded. I found what may be the only one.
Sgt. Peter Seniawasky from Brooklyn , NY. was a Waist Gunner in
the Lt. Giles Kaufman Jr. Crew.
384th BG 545th Sq.
B-17 # 42 - 29870 JD U " T.S." , " Big Moose "
Shot Down 10/14/43 Just after Bombs Away over Schweinfurt.
Crew Bailed Out - MACR # 1038
All Crewmen , except for Sgt. Seniawasky , were POWs.
He was able to Evade and made it to Spain. He was returned to
England 12/1/43. General Ira Eaker was so impressed with His
story , He awarded Him the Siver Star.
There is a 68 Page story about Him and how He Evaded in an
Excellent Book: The Bomber Boys by Travis Ayers.
There are 2 reasons this story was unknown until now.
His Escape and Evasion Report was Lost
He was Listed as a POW.
Also , He legally changed His last name to Scott in 1951.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: AAF Crewman Evaded from Germany !

Captain Roland Dufresne, 357FS/355FG was shot down Feb 11, 1944 east of Koln and returned in September. He made it to Swiss Alps and crossed on his own, RTD w/355th to finish his tour in Fall 1944.
