Where was this He177 found?
Hello all,
In order to verify my data, does someone recognize the location of this wrecked He177 ? Many thanks in advance! Marcel Hogenhuis / Venlo

Re: Where was this He177 found?
Hi Marcel,
in my files I have this photo sold together with other shots which can be identified as Lechfeld. While this doesn't say that your Heinkel was photographed at Lechfeld too, there is a high probability though.. Regards, Christian |

Re: Where was this He177 found?
Hello,
I agree with Christian, the man who took the photos was an Army Air Force photo analyst at Lechfeld. I have the negatives, and some photos, all taken mid-12/45 at lechfeld. Regards. Eric |

Re: Where was this He177 found?
Hello Christian, hello Guillaume,
Wonderful news ! Because of the circular blast walls (as for the He219's) I already suspected that it must have been Lechfeld, but as I could not prove it was, the location of this particular He177 - apparantly photographed in the same run as the He219's - could help to confirm that these He219's were found at Lechfeld and not at Cheb/Eger. Eric: I am researching the history of the He219 quite some time now, resulting in a database of over 970 records in order to clearify many contradictions in photo captions, numbers of produced He219's and even errors in some primary sources. How can I reach you off board ? I would like to ask some specifics about the Werkenummer of those He219's (I have only the pictures as downloaded from EBay). My mail address: marcelhogenhuis[at]gmail.com Many thanks for the responses of your both! Best regards, Marcel

Re: Where was this He177 found?
While we're at it - can it be that Bf 110 "F2+YN" from Ergänzungs-Fernaufklärungsgruppe was photographed at Lechfeld too?

Re: Where was this He177 found?
Christian,
Only "+YN" is visible on the photos, the other one is DV+IM, and the photo have "lechfeld 12/45" one the backside. Best regards. Eric |

Re: Where was this He177 found?
Oh, DV+IM too? That's new information for me, thank you Eric! BTW, the "F2"-code is visible on some shots of this plane, e.g. the attached ones. Source is an old Tonelli auction.
