gunsights

Hi, would anybody be able to shed light on why 109/190 gunsights were off-set to the right of the cockpit. I have read up on the subject but there seems to be no definate answer, would like to know you good peoples thought on it?

Pilot is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: gunsights

Maybe ergonomic reason, to keep sight in eye line. There was standard in design of cockpit, including of proposition where to put sight. Yes, Bf109 is specific with its off set position.

Because with right-handed people their right eye is the dominant one?

Being left-handed myself, I suspect that no one thought about them back then. Children in school used to be actively dissuaded from writing left-handed for example (my Dad being one such case). When I was a kid you didn't see things like left-handed scissors or the other left-handed items that you were able to get later on.
