Luftwaffe logbooks for Mediterranean theatre, 1943-1944

Hi,

Does anyone have access to copies of the following logbooks:

- Albin Beck, IV./J.G. 3
- Lütz-Wilhelm Burkhardt, I./J.G. 77
- Joachim Deicke, II./J.G. 77
- Rudolf Flindt, II./J.G. 77
- Karl-Otto Holzapfel, 2.(H)/14, 2./N.A.Gr. 11
- Willy Krauss, II./J.G. 53
- Heinz Lüpertz, III./J.G. 53
- Karlheinz Rentrop, I./J.G. 77
- Hans Schäfer, IV./J.G. 3
- Richard Sommermann, III./J.G. 53
- Albert Ullrich, II./J.G. 77
- Martin von Vacano, III./J.G. 53
- Helmut Weinbrenner, III./J.G. 77

If so, I’d be very interested in seeing flights from the period 3 September 1943 to 21 January 1944. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Hi Thierry,

Thanks for the pointer, but unfortunately Erik doesn't have most of these logbooks. I've got to do some more research, but will contact you soon regarding the 5 March 1943 combat in Tunisia.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

If the book turns up, I'd be interested to see the pages about Holzapfel's time in NAGr. 11 as well.

All of the above Flugbücher are in the collection of Walter Waiss (author of the KG27 unit histories), except: Beck, Burkhardt, Deicke and Sommermann. Of a certain "Rentrop" (no first name given) only "Schulflüge".

Hope this helps,

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Thanks. I was aware that Walter Waiss had some of these logbook copies, but because I have nothing to exchange with him, I was really hoping that someone on the board might be able to help me.

And Nick, if I get hold of a copy of that logbook I'll be sure to pass it on to you.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Yes, it's hard to exchange logbooks with someone who has probably the largest Flugbuch collection in the world! Please ee PM.

Regards,

Marcel
