Fate of crew Kurt Schmidtborn 6./KG53

Hi,

Is there any MIA Information on this crew for September 1940 or later?

Does someone know the names of his crewmembers?

I don't find Schmidtborn in the loss list in Heinz Kiehl's KG53 book, but according to Lt. Walter Spellig (KG53, DKiG) the crew went missing in Sept. 1940.

6./KG53 did have losses on 15.09.1940

Regards, Thomas

Re: Fate of crew Kurt Schmidtborn 6./KG53

Hi Matti,

Thank you very much for this information!

You answered another question.

Gruppenkommandeure II./KG53:

23.07.1940-18.08.1940 Major Reinhold Tamm (kia)
19.08.1940-17.09.1940 ???
18.09.1940-00.00.1941 Oblt. Hans Steinweg

Major Gruber must be the one in the middle. Kiehl doesn't give a Gruppenkommandeur for this short period.

Regards, Thomas
