Re: Sturmovik-Shturmovik-Stormovik....
Correct is: Штурмовик
And then check rules of the Russian-English transcription/transliteration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization_of_Russian (In my opinion: Shturmovik) |

Always a difficult one - Germanic spellings, English spellings or a translation. I think I would go with Shturmovik as well as a translation. Of course into German / Finnish / French I don't need to worry! regards Mark |

Re: Sturmovik-Shturmovik-Stormovik....
Interesting point! Never thought of the Supermarine Attacker as a Shturmovik!

Re: Sturmovik-Shturmovik-Stormovik....
In English books most people associate "Shturmovik" with the Il-2 but in the opening days of the war in Russia even the I-15bis and I-153 was referred to as "Shturmoviks".

Re: Sturmovik-Shturmovik-Stormovik....
I always use Shturmovik in my English language writings.
By the way, Stuka was not only associated with the Ju 87, but with other similar duty aircraft types as well, like the Hs 123.
