2.Lt. Robert M. Hyde, 52. FG 4. FSq.
Did someone know if this pilot returned after the war ?
Lt. Hyde bailed out in Austria July 16th 1944 and was captured - before he seriously wounded a hunter and the mayor of a small city in a shooting, so he was handed over to the Gestapo. Thanks for help khorat Michael Balss |

Michael,
Unfortunately not. He is now buried at Lorraine American Cemetery with date of death 11 Aug 1944. See the ABMC website. His POW record card says that he died as prisoner of war, with last reporting date 5 Jun 1945. Regards, Leendert |
