Bf 109F-4 W.Nr.7221

Hello Gents,

Following JG 54 lost list, it has been destroyed - 100% - on 12/2/1942 flown by Lt. Otto Schmidt (+). Schwarze 1 +. 5./JG 54.
It seems the same W.Nr.7221 was flown by Oblt Heinrich "Gaudi" Krafft in March (?!) 1942. 3./JG 51, Gelbe 7.

Any comments?

BR, Franck.

Difficult to believe. According to my loss database, I/JG 51 operated F-1 and F-2 versioins (Bestandliste der I/JG 51 of March 1942 shows only F-1 and F-2). Also, I/JG 51 never lost any Bf 109 in 7xxx series.

Hello.

The 7221 do reappear in JGr Süd i n 1943.

Airframe recovered and repaired probably.

Andreas B

Hello Matti,
That WNr. is given in Kracker list and here: http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=6091
But you're maybe right since obviously there's no exhaust cover neither position light cover. Except for the windscreen armor, I would say it's an F-2.

To all,

and now these four pictures:

Note that though Otto Schmidt plane was in 5./JG 54 there was no II.Gruppe line as indicated upper.

Same seller is offering that one:
