a JU88 support made by VDM
Good evening all,
what do you think about this JU88 support ? where did it go on aircraft ? Thanks in advance for your answers. GC Marking is : R8 88 113 12038 VDM 3115 (I underline the letters/numbers I am not sure of) Last edited by gilles collaveri; 18th December 2012 at 22:49. |

Re: a JU88 support made by VDM
Gentlemen, 3115 and 3116 are code numbers of aluminium standard (Werkstoff-Kennzahl) and designate quite normal Al-Cu-Mg-composition. They have no connection to Werk.-Nummer of the part.

Re: a JU88 support made by VDM
R8-88 1xx part is part from fuselage, R probably denoting it was die-cast in mold, 133 canopy, here frame support or fastener of some sort? I have part 8-88.133-0962 in my hands, its made out of thick flat aluminum plate, then cut out making canopy "window", then riveted to the tube frame and "rollover bar" at rear of front canopy. This part was on left side, immidiately aft of the pilot sliding window. Yes, definately part number and "stoff" (material, metal).

Re: a JU88 support made by VDM
If the paert number is 88.113-1203 (difficult to read in picture, 88.115.12038 seems not to be correct), it is part of a control system (aileron, rudder or elevator) pushrod bearing pedestal in upper part of fuselage frame 12. If you have Ju 88A-4 Parts Catalog available, this part can be found in Baugruppe 115 on page 2.

Thanks so much guys;
With your explanations, this bare metal part seems to live again. Have a good day. GC |

Re: a JU88 support made by VDM
Hi Gilles/Matti. I apologize, misread part number 88.113 (?) for 88.133-. Have to get better or stronger glasses!

Ed and Matti,
I shall try to make a closer picture of the part tonight, to try to see better and read well the numbers. Talk to you tomorrow; Gilles |
