B-25H in the Med.?

Hi all,
was the B-25H ever used in the MTO? The Baugher site says that ten of them were sent to the Med., but I couldn´t find their serials, let alone photos or further information. I´d also like to know if the J with the eight-gun-nose was used there.

Regards

Hein

Hein,

You may be interested to read this on armyairforces.com:

It appears that 12th BG used some B-25H models in the MTO before moving out to India.

Re: B-25H in the Med.?

Leendert,

many thanks for the link. I had stumbled across this before, unfortunately it gives only valuable general information, not the more specific one I am looking for. Seems this remote corner of aviation history has vanished under the dust of times forever.

Regards

Hein

Re: B-25H in the Med.?

Hi,
having dug a bit deeper in the link also given by Leendert, I`ve found this http://57thbombwing.com/381stSquadronHistory.php,
where the history for March 44 provides a "H" serial 43-4321. So I`ll go next for the J with the eight-gun nose.

Regards,
Hein

Hi FrankieS,

unfortunately your list contains only B-25Cs. May I ask from where you got this information?

Hein

Re: B-25H in the Med.?

Hello Hein !

Yes, I didn´t respect your request for "H-type" B25s, sorry.

Regarding the source of my data:
I have (from this Forum and a lot of other internet sources)
collected data (still very, and forever?, incomplete) on
USAAF losses and put these into an Excel file, which I can send you
via private message.

bye, FrankieS

Re: B-25H in the Med.?

Hi,
the 381st squadron history for February 44 gives two further H serials: 42-4231 and 42-4223, the latter one lost in action on 8th February. These numbers are not B-25 serials, so I think in both cases FY42 is a typo for FY43.

Regards,
Hein

Photo of a Corsica-based B-25H, if only of its nose.
