Looking for info on II./KG26 He111 W.Nr.6997

Hello,

I've searched my EoE DB for a II./KG26 He111 with the W.Nr.6997 without success. Does anyone have any references to this a/c, it's subtype and its ultimate fate? Did it make a FL sometime in 1940-41?

Regards,

I have this one as being with KG 27, not KG 26, and later than your desired period:

Uffz. Erich Schaak MIA 29.June 1941 near Fl.Pl. Bursztyn, cause unknown, during sortie to Fl.Pl. Bursztyn. B, Bf & Bm MIA, Bs returned, WIA. B Uffz. Olaf Richter, Bf Fw. Werner Stahl, Bm Fw. Günter Marohn & Bs Gefr. Josef Kirchberger. B is 2.F & Bs is Bo per loss. Lfl.4/Eins.Osten

Re: Looking for info on II./KG26 He111 W.Nr.6997

GRM:

Thanx for this. This a/c is shown in an eBay auction with the code 1H+AC being hauled away for repair with its wings removed. The seller said it was in the Oct-Nov., 1940 time frame. The W.Nr is very clearly visible and not in doubt. After repair, this must have been passed on to 6./KG27 where it was lost. What I'm looking for is the incident where it was damaged (probably forced-landing) while with KG26. I find no record in the EoE Luft Loss/Dam data base for this one from June to December, 1940, but I'm hoping that there is some record elsewhere of the Stab II./KG26 incident, perhaps in early 1941? This was the GrKdr's a/c.

Regards,
