RAF Coltishall 30 Jul 42

I have a note from a former member of 68 Sqn that 'the Walrus based at RAF Coltishall' picked up a German airman on this date and took him to Coltishall. There is no mention in the 278 Sqn F540 so can anyone throw any light on this-maybe in the Coltishall or 68 Sqn's F540?

Re: RAF Coltishall 30 Jul 42

Hi Chris Goss
Maybe it is not related. The difference in date. But a striking resemblance!
Mr.Nečas in his book "Two of the resistance." writes.
12th August 42 'the Walrus at RAF Coltishall based' picked up a German Airman on this date and took him to Coltishall. Interrogation of captured oberleutnants A. Wolf as a translator attended Sgt Necas. Intelligence commander W / Cdr Davies was his work extremely satisfied.
Further details of questioning prisoners. He wrote an entire chapter this book.
Cheers Pavel (68Sqn)

P.S. Destruction Do217 - Westland Whirlwind F/O Bryan a Sgt Roberts from 137 Sqn of Matlask.

Pavel
Thanks for this. Necas (now Pemberton) told me he interviewed the sole survivor from the 30 Jul 42 crash in a letter dated 1991 so perhaps he is confused as we did talk about Oblt Wolff as well
