I am no expert...
...on the Luftwaffe. I know a little bit about Spitfires.
These shots fell out of book obtained by a colleague from an Oxfam shop. They may be interesting, they may be well known. What can you please tell me to pass on? PeterA ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by PeterA; 18th July 2012 at 22:18. |

I believe one of these shots is of a He111.
Does this help? PeterA |

Re: I am no expert...
@ Peter,
the pictures are showing (downward): He 111, a damaged and pancaked He 111 with balloon barrage rejector and a Do 17. Best Regards Norbert

Re: I am no expert...
What impact did the barrage rejector have on the flight performance? Was it used regularly (first time I see one)?
In the first picture, the external bomb carried seems a heavy type? Any views on what it is? Was this additional to internal load or an either/or load? All the best Andreas

Pic1: Late He111H-series (H-14?) with a SC500 and the heavy MG moved from the nose into the BoLa (lower part of the A/C)
Pic2: Probably early He111H or a P-model during late BoB (night-painting!) |

Re: I am no expert...
Hi, Peter...
What a find...! ![]() The second Heinkel He111 with the balloon cable-cutter is an He111H-8, coded 1G+ZM of 4./KG27 which crash-landed on Chideock Farm and was photographed on 22 May, 1941. I have attached a link below for you to view a further image of this machine from a different angle. Sadly , I have not noted exactly where Chideock Farm is/was, but I'm sure someone will let us know in due course. Kindest regards, Paul http://www.historyofwar.org/Pictures...e_cutter2.html |

Re: I am no expert...
Can anyone offer details for the "cable cutter"? Was it an actual blade, or was it more along the lines of a locomotive's "cow catcher", or a deflection device ?
