Re: 4/jagdfliegerschule 1941
You have not provided enough information. Jagdfliegerschulen 1 and 2 only had 1.-3. Staffel in 1941 while Jagdfliegerschulen 3, 4 and 5 had 4 or 5 Staffeln in 1941. So no one can answer your question unless you identify which of the 5 Jagdfliegerschulen you are referring to.

Re: 4/jagdfliegerschule 1941
Steven: 5 staffel of JFS 3, 4 or 5? Furthermore, if you are after a nominal roll of all the pilots in this unit, you will be lucky. Likewise, records of EK 1 & 2 awards are not readily available

4.(Eins.)/Jagdfligerschule 5
Hello Steven
What little I have uncovered states that this operational training unit was formed from Jabo-Lehrgang/JFS 5 with the Bf 109 E-7 and intended to support JG 2 and JG 26 in the defense of France. It began re-equipping with the Bf 109 F-2 in October 1941. It was officially attached to the Geschwaderstab of JG 2 and disbanded on 1 April 1942. During its nine month service the unit claimed about 80 victories, including 17 victories recorded by its Staffelkapitän, Oberleutnant Fülbert Zink (36 victories, DK-G, missing in action 14 March 1943). The unit included the notable aces Unteroffizier Josef Jennewein (84 victories, RK, missing in action 27 July 1943) who claimed five victories serving with it, Leutnant Rüdiger von Kirchmayr (31 victories, RK) who claimed one confirmed victory serving with it, Leutnant Franz Bauer (9 victories, killed in action 6 June 1944) who claimed five victories serving with it and Unteroffizier Peter Gerth (17 victories) who claimed 11 victories serving with it. I must say that I have seen some evidence that the unit was quite optimistic regarding its claims during this time period. Perhaps this is the unit that you are interested in? Horrido! Leo |
