Information request - Reconnaissance Airman Crash/Loss Details?
Hello all,
I am (hopefully) seeking details for a potential loss on an airman for who I have the award citations for.
His name is/was Heinrich Everding and he served in 4.(H)/23 (1939), 4.(H)/31 (1940) & 6.(H)/31 (1941).
He was an NCO (Feldwebel) in 1941 but I do not know if he was a Pilot or Observer.
He won the EK II in 1939 and the EK I in 1940 and by June 1941 he had been awarded the Aufklärer Flying Clasp in Silver. He was then wounded (Black Wound Badge citation) on 1st September 1941 and there the trail ends in terms of his citations.
For someone who had won both classes of the Iron Cross by the end of 1940 and a Silver Clasp by June 1941 it would be reasonable to assume that if he continued flying he would of been a contender for the Ehrenpokal or even possibly the DKiG but there is no mention of him in the Ordensträger. There are three WW-2 related Heinrich Everding listed in the Volksbund DB, with all 3 being KIA 1944/45 and two were low ranking soldiers with the third having no rank listed so I am wondering if the wounding was serious enough to end his flying career and hence the lack of further citations (obviously that would be hard to determine with any great degree of certainty - it just might be that he was never deemed worthy of the EP or DKiG)
Would anyone possibly have any details for losses for those units relating to this airman please?
