Hi Marc,
Interesting your question: I think it was done at unit level; but am I that sure? Boogie woogie symphony in E! Talking about that ... During the 70s USAF did run experiments on camouflage which were pretty close to these JG 53 impro. Cheers, Franck.

Yes Clint indeed, but this Gelbe 10 very scheme is rare; was it done at unit's level? Or in factory?...
Who took - authority - the decision to make these trials? Do we know that through documents?

Unit level with nearly every aircraft being slightly different. So many strange and wonderful variations are to be seen. I have no idea who authorised the trials or even if they were trials but with so many instances of these schemes across the whole Geschwader they must have been up to something at the time...?
