Norrent Fontes 11 may 1940
One retreating Belgian pilot, A.VAn Waeyenberghe noted in his war diary that he saw a Hurricane squadron on this day at this place. Can somebody help to find the squadron number? Thank you

Re: Norrent Fontes 11 may 1940
The closest I have to offer is No. 79 Squadron who arrived at Norrent-Fontes from Mons-en-Chaussee on May 12, 1940. Other Hurricane squadrons were based there but later.

Re: Norrent Fontes 11 may 1940
Thank you Peter for your prompt answer. It seems to be the right squadron as the pilot arrived at night the 11th.He didn't write when he saw the Hurricanes but left Norrent Fontes during the 12th, perhaps late.

That seems to tie up quite nicely. Glad to have been of some help.
