Looking for info on 4 Luftwaffe pilots/trainers
Hello all,
I am trying to gather as much info as possible regarding 4 LW pilots that served as Bf109G trainers for romanian pilots at Brasov, Romania. The school was called Jagdlehrgang Kronstadt and it is yet unclear if it was subordinated to the Luftwaffemission in Romania or to the romanian AF. These are the only names and details that we have so far : 1. Flugzeugführer Uffz Günther Kilka + he is buried in the Brasov cemetery 1944-07-15, Einsatzschwarm/Jagdlehrgang Kronstadt, Bf109F-4, 13279, Azuga, Absturz nach Luftkampf. Bruch 100 %. His death is a very big mistery, no USAF a/c was present on that day in the area where he was shot down, the other USAF claims for the day are verified and occured in different areas of Romania, instead a romanian IAR-81 was downed with the pilot dead as well, both the germans and romanians took off from the same airfield in order to intercept the USAF bombers and their escorts, but at different times, and it is very possible that both deaths were caused by friendly fire, we have an account of the romanian pilot's wingman which states that they encountered P-51's in a cloudy area which they engaged, but it is also very possible that the P-51's were actually the german Bf109's returning from the scramble. 2. Major Siebelt Reents 31.5.1944 Jagdlehrgang Kronstadt Bf109G-4 19332 BK+YJ Bei Kronstadt ( Brasov ) Rumänien Unbekannt. Bruch 30 % http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=90899 A victory from the spanish civil war http://www.meiermotors.com/de/motore...bf109-e-1.html His mount in Spain 3. Fritz Gaeckel ( last name possibly misspelled ) We found in a romanian local police report that he crashed on 06.06.1944 near Brasov but we weren't able to match this with available Luftwaffe crash reports. 4. Major Ziehm - no other data on him It is suspected that the surviving trainers returned after 23.08.1944 on a raid over Brasov airfield and destroyed the romanian caputred and repaired B-24, if we could get a victory confirmation for this one it would be amazing. A bit of background info for the trainer units from an older axis history thread ( http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97363 ) Quote Quote:
Any new information regarding these pilots or the school would be much appreciated. |
