Freidrich Obleser

On the 03May43 Lt. Friedrich Obleser claimed two I-153 at 05:08 (76854) and 05:12 (76862). Uffz Heinz Ermisch also of 8./JG52 claimed an I-153 at 05:10 (76861). The heights went from 800m to 900m until finally the deck. Was Ermisch his wingman that day?

Re: Freidrich Obleser

I guess Obleser had Ermisch just as his wingman on the 03May43. So maybe someone needs this bit of information for their work on Obleser so here is what I found. Leytenant Ivan Dmitrievich Demidov of the 611 IAP (4VA) was sent on a reconn. mission over German positions. On returning he he had the misfortune of running across Obleser. He must have thought he got him with the first attack at 05:08 at 800 meters but then Ermisch thought he had another I-153 at 05:10 at 900 meters. Finally at 05:12 Obleser sent Demidov's I-153 down after hitting him at 200 meters. Demidov's wrecked plane was recovered in the Krymskaya region in the past few years.

Michael,

Demidov's aircraft was the only I-153 loss in the area that day.

Yes, the site said that the 611 IAP was the last unit solely equiped with the I-153 in the 4 VA. Very interesting pictures of the recovery site and the "bones" of the plane.
