Re: portrait of Georges M. Valentin

Hello,

CJE, Adjudant-chef Georges Valentin, was pilot with GC II/7 in 1939-40 (obtained 8 air victories during first battle of France and 2 air victories in 1943).

Michal, i don't have any picture from George Valentin, maybe you need to see with SHD but it could be long ! But i'm very interesting by your study because GC II/7 fought over my county in 1939-1940 and i've made several searches about their air fight. Please keep in touch !

Stef

Re: portrait of Georges M. Valentin

Hello,

thank you for your response.
Stef is true, Valentin was all war pilot with GC II/7. In battle of France he won 8 victories, in November 1940 shot down Blenheim of RAF and in autumn 1943 JU 88 and Do 217 over Corsica. He was killed by flak near Dijon on 8. September 1944.
He is very good example of complicated situation of France in WW2.
But I am sorry Stef, my main source are English and Czech written books, so I think that I have no new info for you. And the article will be only 4 pages in magazine, it is too few space for so colorful (but short) life of one pilot. But I think that is important to know it today.

There is a small photo of Valentin standing with Gabriel Gauthier on page 139 of Les Pilotes de chasse francais, 39-45 by Ehrengardt and Listemann.

Re: portrait of Georges M. Valentin

Hello,

thanks for tips! I have now Les As de la Guerre 39-45 by Porret and Thevenet. The photo of Valentin with Gabriel Gauthier is here too, but in poor quality.
Now the best is on link by Dan.
Thank you very much!

Great work, guys! Shows how the TOCH community can whip up somewhat obscure information in a heartbeat!

Of course, my wife comments that "you guys need a life" !!
