He111 damaged north of Flamborough Head, Yorkshire, 10 April 1941
Is anyone able to identify a likely candidate, please, for a He111 attacked by two Spitfires of 41 Squadron approx. ten miles north of Flamborough Head at 19:10 on 10 April 1941?
The aircraft had originally made landfall just south of Scarborough, but was chased back out to sea and eventually lost in haze with a damaged starboard engine, which was smoking and releasing oil. On the same evening, 72 Squadron claimed one Ju88 destroyed in the sea of Alnmouth, and another probably destroyed. These accounted for three out of four hostile plots in 13 Group between 18:45 and 21:45. Any assistance would be appreciated, please. Thanks Stebe |

At least five He111 was lost near Birmingham on 10 April 1940 according to
German sorces. III/KG 26, KGr 100 and KG 27. It will be a starting point maybe. Eduardo. |

Re: He111 damaged north of Flamborough Head, Yorkshire, 10 April 1941
The routes taken by these units to attack Birmingham would have not taken them as far north as Flamborough and not in daylight.
