Hofstetter is an unknown quantity at this point
JG 27 Pilot

Received this soldbuch of Siegfried Schwob , only award is the silver wound badge.
With 1/JG 27 for a few months and then wounded.

Some other paperwork, I missed out on, from the group showed a post war description on an identity card saying he'd lost a leg and some burns on his arm and neck if I remember correctly.

Any extra info on him would be greatly appreciated

(anyone have Priens work on JG 27, maybe he is mentioned ?)

He was with 1 gruppe 3 staffel JG27 from September 44 to Dec. 44

From what I can gather 1/JG 27 was based at Rheine when Siegfried was wounded.

Siegrieds wound badge document is dated 10.12.44.

On this day (Eighth Air Force ops)

173 B-24s hit the marshalling yard at Bingen. Escorting are 287 P-47s and P-51

277 B-17s hit the Lutzel marshalling yard at Koblenz. Escorting are 226 P-47s and P-51s.

Possibly Siegfried was wounded in this action.

Any help much appreciated.

Regards Greg

Re: JG 27 Pilot

Yes Greg

Prien confirms Schwob as follows:
3./JG 27 Uffz Siegfried Schwob verw Luftkampf, Absturz 1 km westlich Springbiel, 100% Bf 109K-4 (WNr) 331394

By the way, if you want to avoid confusion, please write the Gruppe with Roman digits (I./JG 27) and staffeln with Arab digits (3./JG 27)

Cheers
Stig
