Ju87 B with flame damper - NSGr or different use
I came accross this image showing an abandoned Ju 87 B with flame damper exhausts fitted and was wondering if anybody could shed some light on possible unit allocation, location and likey date of the image. I plan to build a such equipped Ju 87 B using the 1/48th scale Hasegawa kit plus some resin exhaust. Yet, I'm not sure what details to add. As it seems to be late in war I would change the rear gunner position to the version with the kidney shaped armored glass (as used on the Ju 88) and use a MG 81 I instead of the MG 15. But the real question is if it was used as night attacker or for towing purposes at night. In the latter case I would also add glider towing equipment.
Any ideas/information. Thanks in advance!! Best Rulaman |

Re: Ju87 B with flame damper - NSGr or different use
My two cents.
It is probably a Ju 87 R flown by 2./NSGr. 10, which had a dozen machines at Wels at the end of the war. |

Re: Ju87 B with flame damper - NSGr or different use
Hi Rulaman,
that's Ju 87 C-0, V10, 4928, TK+HD, found at Brunnthal, near Munich in 1945. This example was used for aircraft carrier landing tests earlier in the war and obviously received flame dampers at some point later on. I've attached two additional photos of it. Sources are old ebay auctions (via David E. Brown I believe. Cannot access this info anymore, so please forgive me if this is wrong). Your picture was unknown to me before - would you mind revealing its source and do you have more from this location? Cheers, Christian Last edited by ChristianK; 7th January 2015 at 00:43. |

Hi Rulaman,
the photos I posted are not the only ones of that plane, but they are free of any copyright! ![]() |

Re: Ju87 B with flame damper - NSGr or different use
Would not the C-0 V10 be a B-1 equivalent? Seems it was fitted with a new wide prop also.
That would mean the radiator and under-nose would be different from all existing Ju 87 B kits.
