Gerhard Lautenschlager's death on 16 May 42
In JFV 9/III it has Fw Gerhard Lautenschlager being killed by Soviet AAA to the south of Shum on the 16 May 1942. Was he the wingman of Lt. Walter Nowotny of 3./JG 54 at the time of his death?

Re: Gerhard Lautenschlager's death on 16 May 42
Found my answer (sort of) in Black Cross Red Star volume #2 by Christer Bergstroem. It has in that book that Nowotny was his wingman and shot the P-40 off of Lautenschlager's tail but to late. In Prien's JFV 9/III Nowotny shot down a P-40 but shortly afterwards Lautenschlager shot down an I-16. The Soviet account states that he was last seen leaving to the south of Shum but of course not by name.
