Me Bf 109 F- recovery

Last saturday we recovered the remains of a Messerschmitt Me Bf 109 near Schifferstadt/Germany.

Eyewitnesses told us that the aircraft crashed in October 1944 and the pilot was killed. His body was still in the wreckage.

During the recovery we found out, that the remains and the body of the unknown pilos were removed, probably not to long ago after it crashed.

We only found fragments in about four meters deep.

Tere were two plates we found. Is there an expert who can help to identyfy this aircraft ?

Best wishes

Uwe Benkel

PS: There are a lot of recovery-photographs on my facebook-page.

Why do you think it is a Bf 109 F lost in October 1944?

Best regards

Beause the serial plate (second one in first thread) says 100 which means Me Bf 109 F-version

Hi Uwe...

Yes and no...

109.100-07 - is an Me109F specific number. This number is for the support arm that runs on the bottom of the cockpit. However this tag is not for this arm.

This tag is for 8-109.100-07...which I am not sure of as yet.

I have had early Me109G wreckage that used specific F model parts incorporated...so you cannot determine this is 100% F, by this plate alone.

confirmed

and exactly this arm including the F-number was used furthermore in G and K etc.

so, really no evidence for a 109-F at all!
