Hurricane A & B Paint Schemes
Did the first few batches of Hurricanes get painted in alternate A & B schemes according to the serial number with those ending in an odd number such as L1547 getting an 'A scheme' and L1548 getting a B Scheme and so on?
When was this way of painting scrapped in favour of just one scheme?

Re: Hurricane A & B Paint Schemes
Yes, as seen in photos of the line-up of 111 Sq.
I don't have a date for the abandoning of the alternating schemes, but it can be seen on P-series and at least as late as V-series aircraft. I don't recall seeing any Mk.IIs which suggests autumn 1940 or slightly later. However, you will find odd examples later and even aircraft with the colours exchanged. |
