Spitfire wreck ID in Italy.

Hi Guys.
I had a request for info from some Italian friends. They need to ID the mark of a Spitfire.

Here are some pics of the remains of a Spitfire found near Bettola (Piacenza).
The a/c crashed "on a Sunday in Summer 1944" and the pilot bailed out without a single scrap.
Could you, please, assist me in identyfing the vsrion of the Spit?

Any Ideas??
Thx
Stefaan
